2010/02/10 Portugal: Alentejo and Algarve
Before it flows with Lisbon into the Atlantic, the 1007 kilometers long Tejo divides (Spanish: Tajo) the Iberian peninsula in a north and a south half. Our author Winfried Dulisch explored the south of Portugal, from the Tejo to down at the Atlantic coastal strips of the Algarve. On the north bank of the Tejo the center, the Portuguese central region extends. From there out seen beyond the Tejo , Portuguese: Alentejo, lies one of the world-wide largest cultivation areas for cork oaks.
